MICHAEL A. CASATI was admitted to the bar in Indiana in 1992. He attended Northwestern University and the University of California before receiving his undergraduate degree, with distinction, from Indiana University in 1982. Mr. Casati obtained his law degree from Indiana University, cum laude, in 1992. Mr. Casati has extensive experience in all aspect of divorce litigation, and has been certified by the Family Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association as a Family Law Specialist since 2002. He has also been certified as a Family Law Mediator by the Indiana State Bar Association. His family law experience includes handling matters ranging from simple and amicable settlement agreements, to complex litigation involving custody, parenting time, discovery matters, property division, inheritance, business/practice valuations, pre-marital agreements, claims for spousal maintenance, protective orders, and related issues.

Mr. Casati's experience in criminal law dates back to his employment in law enforcement with the Indiana University Police Department beginning in 1980, and thereafter as a trooper and drug enforcement investigator with the Indiana State Police, beginning in 1983. He worked both state and federal investigations, including a wire tap investigation. He began his legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Morgan County Prosecutor's Office from 1992-1993, and as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office from 1993 to 1998, when he joined the firm. His experience as a deputy prosecutor included handling all aspects of criminal cases, both juvenile and adult matters, from misdemeanors to major felonies. Since joining the firm, Mr. Casati has continued to handle all aspects of criminal matters, including adult and juvenile matters, misdemeanor and felony cases, also including probation violation and all related proceedings. Mr. Casati also has substantial experience in related areas of law, including issues such as those involving driver's licenses, post-conviction relief, and protective order proceedings.
